Join the Campaign for a Healthy California on Sunday, April 1st for the Horrors of Corporate Healthcare: April Ghouls Day
Please join Single Payer Now and the Campaign for a Healthy California for an upcoming action in downtown Los Angeles, the “Horrors of Healthcare: April Ghouls Day,” to call attention to the “apocalypse of healthcare costs.” This event will be in both English and Spanish.
Date: April Fools Day, Sunday, April 1st, 1:30pm – 4pm
March Assembly: 1:30pm, Blue Cross, 801 S. Figueroa, Los Angeles, at the corner of 8th and S. Figueroa – Metro Stop: 7th St/Metro Center, Red/Purple Line. The march starts at 2pm.
Press Rally/Action: 3:00pm, Pershing Square (near the fountain), 532 South Olive Street, Los Angeles – Metro Stop: Pershing Square, Red/Purple Line – Paid public parking available underneath Pershing Square.
Event Description: Zombies, vampires and other corporate health care monsters will “chase” ill patients from Blue Cross through the streets of downtown Los Angeles as the patients throw bags of money at them. The patients will lure the monsters to Pershing Square where doctors and nurses will send them through a “rehuminization tent” to cure them with hearts and brains. The cured corporate monsters will then drop their money in the “people’s healthcare fund.” A press rally will follow.
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as a zombie, vampire, patient, or health care provider. Please help us spread the word by posting the flyers below in your neighborhood, on your social network pages, and at your work. You can also direct people to our Facebook event page here.
